How we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Relo apps and services.

Last updated July 20, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Relo (“Relo”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Relo web application, the Relo browser extension, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). It forms part of the agreement described in our Terms of Service.

Our guiding principle is simple: we collect only what we need to run the Services, we do not sell your personal information, and your notes are yours.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you provide it, a display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) as permitted by your Google settings. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Content you create

We store the content you create in the Services so it is available to you across sessions and devices, including:

  • notes, notebooks, and folders;
  • timestamps, pins, trims, and snapshots you capture from videos;
  • messages you send to the AI chat and the responses you receive.

Video and YouTube data

When you watch a video in Relo, we process the video’s public metadata (such as its title, channel, and thumbnail) and, for AI-assisted features, the video content needed to generate the response you requested. If you choose to connect your YouTube account, we store the access tokens needed to show you your subscriptions and feed; you can disconnect this at any time (see “YouTube API Services” below).

Usage and technical information

We collect limited technical information necessary to operate and secure the Services, such as log data generated when you use the Services, and aggregated, privacy-friendly usage analytics (see “Analytics” below). We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  • power AI-assisted features you invoke, such as chat and summaries;
  • respond to your support requests;
  • understand aggregate usage of the Services so we can improve them;
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your notes or other User Content for advertising.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate Relo. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and content (privacy policy);
  • Google — Google sign-in, YouTube API Services, and the Gemini API used for AI chat, summaries, and image-to-text (privacy policy);
  • Vercel — application hosting and privacy-friendly analytics (privacy policy);
  • Resend — delivery of support and transactional emails (privacy policy);
  • Paddle — payment processing and subscription billing as our merchant of record (privacy policy). When you purchase a subscription or add-on, Paddle collects payment details (such as your name, email, and billing information) on our behalf.

When you use AI-assisted features, the relevant content (for example video content, a snapshot image, or your chat prompt) is sent to the AI provider to generate the response you requested. We do not permit our AI providers to use your content to train their models under the API terms we operate under.

YouTube API Services

Relo uses YouTube API Services to embed videos and, if you connect your YouTube account, to display your subscriptions and feed. By using these features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke Relo’s access to your Google and YouTube data at any time via the Google security settings page.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and similar technologies only where they are necessary for the Services to work:

  • Authentication cookies keep you signed in to your account. The Relo browser extension reads this session so you stay signed in across the web app and the extension.
  • Local storage in your browser holds preferences and certain content (such as drafts and AI chat history) to make the Services fast and available.

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics in production to understand aggregate usage of the Services (for example, which pages are visited). Vercel Analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly: it does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites.

Browser extension

The Relo browser extension activates on YouTube pages to offer “Open in Relo” and snapshot capture. It shares your Relo sign-in session with the web application and sends to Relo only the data needed to perform the action you request (for example, the video you chose to open or the frame you chose to capture). The extension does not collect your general browsing history.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual notes, notebooks, and snapshots at any time from within the Services. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from Settings in the Services. Deletion is processed promptly, except where we are required to retain certain information by law. If you need help, contact us at support@relolearn.com.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; please use a strong, unique password for your account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, export, or delete it, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@relolearn.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Services and give you an opportunity to review the changes before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
